PDF Editing Limitations
PDF files are not stored like ordinary word-processing documents. Text can be split into many operators, encoded with embedded fonts, rotated, converted to paths, or placed over scanned images.
What usually works
Simple PDFs with selectable text and normal embedded fonts are the best fit for browser-side text editing.
What may not work
Scanned PDFs, encrypted PDFs, unusual subset fonts, complex forms, layered documents, and heavily transformed layouts may not edit cleanly.
Review exports
Always reopen and review an exported PDF before sending it to someone else. If layout fidelity matters, keep the original file as a backup.
